Piggy Back Grafting — Use Established Rootstock To Grow An Ultra Fast & Mature Tree

July 3, 2016

Charles Malki, Biologist & Plant Expert from https://ivorganics.com/ discusses a grafting method known as “piggy back grafting” where the grafted plant is grown adjacent to the established rootstock, a and both plants root along side one another.

The benefit of this technique is that both plants are forced to grow into one another and support the graft union. Both rootstocks are invested in maximizing the success of the graft resulting in fast success with a mature shaped tree in only a few short years with fruit expected by year 1 or 2!
