Q: When should I fertilize my plants & trees?
A: Generally, you should be feeding (fertilizing) your plants during the growing seasons of Spring, Summer & early Fall. Apply the fertilizer in granular form typically offers 60-90 days of food with each watering. Applying the fertilizer in liquid form typically offers 2-3 weeks of food, and should be repeated every 2-4 weeks. Potted plants should be fertilized more frequently, as the nutrients are leached out between waterings—So, a monthly application for potted plants during the growing season typically works best. Another helpful tip is to apply less fertilizer to your plants, but more frequently, if you have the time – As most commercial growers & nurseries. Winter time is a great time to foliar feed your tropical and every green plants, as roots are predominately dormant and cold, foliar feeding is a great way to get the nutrients plants need into the plant to improve its tolerance to weather extremes, quickly correct nutrient deficiencies and maximum productivity (blooms, fruits and growth) come the following spring. IV Organic® All Purpose Fertilizer can be used in multiple ways, including, granular soil feed, foliar feed and/ or compost tea—detail directions on the back label.
